Summer Wine Festivals, Tasting and Sampling

May 4, 2016

With the warm weekend temperatures kicking in before May arrived, you can be sure that beer and wine tastings are in full swing. These amazing events are the perfect opportunity to step out of your comfort zone when it comes to your beverage of choice, and try something new!

I wish that Urban Vintner was able to give samples and hold tasting events to showcase the great wines we make, but unfortunately it's just not possible with the liquor laws the way they are.

The next best thing is to have a taste of what's out there in the world of wine, and find the perfect varietal for your next batch. If you come across a wine you really love, let me know and I am positive I can find something to match it.

A personal favorite of mine, Vancouver Craft Beer Week, kicks off May 27th-June 5th with events across the city.

If you don't want to venture north of the Fraser, avoid the bridges and head to Cloverdale for the inaugural hosting of The Grape & The Grain May 28th & 29th. [Amendment - this event has been postponed until further notice]

Keep an eye out if you make it to one of the many Farmer's Markets - new laws allow local wineries  to sample and sell their products in these locations.

And my last tip is to check out your local liquor store for some of the events they are putting on this summer. I have always been a fan of EverythingWine and their great events/tastings. There is something going on every day - what better way to taste and see what you like!

If you come across any other wine events, please share them on our FaceBook page and spread the love of vino.

Get out, enjoy the sunshine, and drink some wine!
